A room-page checklist for a clearer booking decision
A practical check of room comparisons, policies and the transition from a hotel website to its booking system.
Practical checklist · Editorial approach
The useful starting point
Give guests enough accurate information to compare rooms and understand the next step, then verify the handoff to the actual booking system.
Compare what a guest needs to know
Choose two room categories and compare the information available for each. Check occupancy, bed configuration, facilities, accessibility information where confirmed, photographs and applicable booking terms. Missing or inconsistent details can be recorded as a content issue without assuming a measured loss of bookings.
- Label room photographs and illustrative images accurately.
- Confirm any included benefit with the property team.
- Keep availability and rate information aligned with the approved booking source.
Illustrative example: the booking handoff
Start on a room page and follow the reservation link. Check whether the next screen preserves the selected property, room context and dates as intended. If it opens another system, make that transition understandable. State cancellation terms and benefits only when confirmed; do not invent an upgrade, lowest-price promise or rate agreement.
Keep requests and completed bookings separate
A reservation click, an availability search and a confirmed booking are different events. Review completed bookings only if the booking system supplies trustworthy confirmation, and account for cancellations when assessing results. Compare channel costs using the property’s actual agreements and data. No commission rate, revenue lift or booking improvement is assumed in this checklist.
